‘Setting your heart on Pilgrimage’
Leader: Carl Gidney
Take time away from the rush of daily life and spend time in spiritual refreshment and renewal in our led retreats. Join in fellowship to retune with God, and find peace and prayer in our relaxing grounds. Carl Gidney – ‘The Missional Monk’ – motivates and mentors in missional spirituality. He is a trainer in evangelism and discipleship among spiritual seekers, helping them to become disciple-makers.
Carl is known on social media as ‘the Missional Monk’ because he loves to motivate and mentor others into a Missional Spirituality. He is presently pioneering a fresh expression of church in Cardiff Bay and a small network called Terranova.
He serves as a Regional Minister with the South Wales Baptist Association based in the Baptist College in Cardiff City Centre. He seeks to be a catalyst to church planters throughout the whole of Wales and beyond, in evangelism and discipleship among secular spiritual seekers. He also motivates those in existing churches, interested in exploring more ‘counter-intuitive’ ways of being missional.
Carl’s big dream is to turn spiritual seekers into disciple makers.
He is Lancashire born, of Anglo-Indian descent and has a Welsh wife called Jane. She leads a 50-strong community choir in the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay to reach spiritual seekers.
Carl is a musician and artist with 38 years as a church Minister. He came to Christ aged 18 and went straight into Theological College. He began as a church planter at 21 years old, came to Cardiff City Temple in 1979 and was ordained in 1983 into Elim Pentecostal Church of Great Britain. As well as being a Pastor, Carl has also worked for British Youth for Christ as a University and Schools Evangelist, Teen Challenge Wales drug rehab ministry, been a Prison Chaplain and a tutor with Acorn Christian Healing Trust training others in Pastoral Skills and listening.
Carl and Jane have four adult children. He loves wild walking in forests with his Narnia stick, being in coffee shops, going to the theatre, singing, and making curries for friends and strangers.
